Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged, Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme launched for people working in extreme environments

Dell has announced two new laptops for its Latitude Rugged PC portfolio as its first-ever laptops that ship with Windows 11 preinstalled. Though the Latitude 5430 Rugged and Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme have been designed for specific use-cases. Here is how. Dell Latitude 7330 Rugged ExtremeHIGHLIGHTSDell Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme comes as the industry’s smallest 13-inch fully-rugged laptop.The laptop has been drop-tested from up to 6-feet for optimum durability.Alongside, Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged has been launched with a total weight of 1.97kg.Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged and Dell Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme have been launched by the company as two new offerings in its Latitude Rugged lineup of laptops. While the first one comes as the lightest 14-inch semi-rugged laptop, the Dell Latitude 7330 is being claimed as the industry’s smallest 13-inch fully-rugged laptop.

Dell explains what it means by these terms. Fully-rugged refers to a device that is tested up to MIL-STD-810H specs, which means that it has been drop-tested from up to 6-feet and has water, dust, dirt ingress-protection (IP) rating of IP-65.As for the first one, Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged weighs just c and comes with (IP)-53 rating for protection against dust, dirt and water. The laptop has been drop-tested from up to 3-feet, not as much as the other one launched alongside but still quite impressive for a laptop.Both the Dell laptops ship with 11th Gen Intel Core processors and optional professional discrete graphics cards. This productivity is further enhanced by software optimisations through preinstalled Windows 11 and Dell Optimizer software application. Dell Latitude 5430 RuggedDell says that the displays on the two laptops have been improved for better visibility in the daylight and better responses to glove touches. The screens support up to 1400 nits of brightness for optimal usability in the field.Dell promises a battery run-time of almost 25 hours on the two laptops. These also come with dual hot-swappable batteries for when the running battery goes out of charge. They support Express Charge Boost for up to a 35 per cent charge in 20 minutes.Connectivity is ensured with Intel Wi-Fi 6E and optional 5G-capability on both devices. For security, both Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged and the Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme come with TPM 2.0 ControlVault authentication, contactless smartcard reader, fingerprint sensor and integrated cryptographic keys contacted.Dell will also provide its enterprise services & support, including Next-Business-Day on-site support option along with the laptops. Dell Latitude Rugged 5430 and 7730 laptops will be globally available for order on December 9, 2021.
